Cabin Filters: a seasonal cash boost

As the days warm up and air conditioning comes into use, garages should warn their customers of the hazards lurking in clogged cabin filters.

  • The process of replacing cabin filters for the majority of vehicles is straightforward and usually takes no longer than 30 minutes.
  • Their location on a vehicle is not always obvious so we offer instructions on ECAT to reduce fitting times and boost profits.
  • A jam jar of  city air can contain 35 million particles of dust. When a windscreen refuses to demist, it probably means the filter is clogged and needs replacing.
  • According to the World Health Organisation,  between 30-40% of asthma cases are linked to air pollution.
  • During only one hour driving, an air volume of up to 200,000 litres is blown into a vehicle’s interior.
  • It’s not only pollutants and dust that cabin filters trap, but also bugs and insects, which decay over time in the filter.
  • If the cabin air filter is clogged up or fails completely, the pollutant concentration in the interior of the vehicle will be greater than the outside air.
